Well, aren't all the misswoth benifrad? This may not have been this Jew's intention. Nevertheless, the spark in his/her Jewish neshama seems to be there still. There's always hope, and even this Jew should be encouraged. :-)
Now, when I had a datla"sh coworker who didn't shave during the Omer, I had difficulties getting my head around that, since that is a minhag, and not halakha (at least not according to everyone).
Just getting to this now after pesach, but I was very moved to eat at McDonalds in Cinema City in Jerusalem where they were Kosher lePesach Rabbanut Yerushalayim Lelo Chashah kitniyot!
