anti-haredi discrimination

I have had this thought bouncing around in my head for the past couple of days. I almost wrote it in response to a number of arguments I have seen, regarding the issue of the school takeover in RBS. I did not write it because I mostly tried to stay out of arguing about it - because I feel that the solution, or a solution, is necessary but the method used was wrong.

Here it is. It is in response to the complaint that there is so much anti-haredi bias and that's why the Haredim dont get anything and have to fight for everything, even sometimes taking things forcefully.

When the Iryah and the Mayor have been Haredi for +-6 years, you can no longer use the complaint of anti-Haredi discrimination.

thoughts?

  1. Agreed. At some point (no matter how much bitachon you have) there are going to be consequences to your decisions. Schools requiring planning. They are not going to build themselves.

  2. Maybe it has to do with the fact that so many times the mayor wants to do something the chilonim and the dati leumi run to the police, and the media with the terrible news that the Chareidim are taking over the city (oh you and don't forget the lies they don't work, server in the army or pay taxes)

  3. What don't the charediim get that they think they need to fight?

    strong political representation at every level
    funding for private schools
    no army
    private / insular communities
    special financial, educational, housing programs

    why do the charediim feel so put upon?

  5. that's the answer of someone who has no answer - Unlike the black community in America charediim are not stopped for driving while charedi, or walking while charedi. the charediim are not integrated into society, but that's by choice not by force.

    So the question remains: why do the charediim feel so put upon?

    can anyone give a real answer?
